Parents cannot approve advancements. Refer to Merit Badge procedures in the
Boy Scout Handbook page 187.
Troop meets every Monday (except holidays) at 7:00 p.m.
Need volunteers for Merit Badge Counselors. Please take some time to review the
Merit Badge list in the Boy Scout Handbook (page 190-193) and see if there is one you
would be interested in. You do not need to have a degree in the subject, just a serious
interest. A counselor should have and interest in the subject matter and some experience
by career, training or hobby and a desire to help a scout. You are welcome to borrow any
Merit Badge book from the troop library to help you decide. A person can be a Merit Badge
Counselor for up to 4 badges. Contact the Scoutmaster if you need a list of current
Merit Badge Counselors.
Parental involvement is encouraged. Assisting with campout and hikes are a
great way to have fun and get to know others within the Troop. The Troop is a "Boy" run
organization with the adults there to oversee and guide the scouts. It is important for
the parents and the scouts to remember the parent/child relationship disappers while at
a Boy Scout function. The scouts need to direct questions and requests through their
patrol leader and the Senior Patrol Leader. If a parent has any questions or concerns,
they need to go through the Committee Chairman and he will take it to the Scoutmaster and
the scouts as appropriate. In the event the Committee Chairman is not available, then parents
should speak to the Scoutmaster
Pressurized fuels(i.e. Coleman stoves, lanters, etc) cannot be used at a Boy Scout
function unless the operator has been certified by the BSA.
Reminder: No electronic games at camp! Books are encouraged!
